Langley Civic Leaders Association (LCLA) hosted the annual Langley Air Force Base leadership appreciation social April 14th at the Virginia Air & Space Center in downtown Hampton.

Virginia First Lady Maureen McDonnell today launched the "Serving OurService Member Families" website

Change of Command 
29 April 2011 - Col. Matthew Venzke assumed command of the 1st Maintenance Group in a ceremony April 29 in the 27th Fighter Squadron hangar.  Col. Matt Molloy, 1st Fighter Wing commander, officiated the ceremony, in which Colonel Venzke succeeded Col. George Zaniewski in command of the unit. The Langley Civic Leaders look on in the background.
LCLA Hosts the Langley Leadership Appreciation Social

Langley Civic Leaders Association (LCLA) hosted the annual Langley Air Force Base leadership appreciation social April 15th at the Virginia Air & Space Center in downtown Hampton.  The event was well attended by many senior ranking leaders from LAFB as well as the surrounding communities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson and York County.  The event’s theme was “tropical” and featured a local musician who sang “Jimmy Buffett” songs.  LCLA hosts the event annually to thank leaders at LAFB for their service to our nation and significant contributions to our communities.

COMMSTAR Orientation Flight Social

The COMMSTAR group consists of local civic leaders that are hosted for events around the country each year by the 72 ABW (Air Base Wing). On this visit, they came to Langley AFB and visited the 1FW and Air Combat Command in addition to Norfolk Naval Air Station.

Langley has impact on local economy
July 31, 2009 - LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. -- Hampton Roads' unemployment rate in June was 7.2 percent, which is lower than the national average of 9.5 percent, according to the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Economic impact from Langley AFB dropped $400M in three years
July 25, 2009  Hampton - Langley Air Force Base contributed $1.2billion to the local economy last year, which is down about $400million from 2005 figures, according to a new Air Force study.
